  • Swami Vivekananda, the great spiritual leader, who saw a vision for an awakened India following its golden tradition of education, character-building & spirituality, was born on 12 January 1863. Year 2013 will be the 150th Birth Anniversary of this National Hero. Ramakrishna Mission will celebrate this auspicious occasion worldwide to pay homage to Swami Vivekananda and to leave a permanent mark on the society.

Swami Vivekananda emphasized, “We want that education by which character is formed, strength of mind is increased, the intellect is expanded, and by which one can stand on one’s own feet”. .

To celebrate this great event Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Vrindaban, a branch of Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, has the privilege to conduct Swami Vivekananda Bal Vikas Yojana to aims for all-around development of children up to age of 12 years from poor and backward areas and improvement of their health through elimination of malnutrition, immunization etc. .

Needless to say that we all have to play an important role for the successful completion of the projects through contributing our manpower as well as funding the projects, whichever is possible. Let us all work together and strive our best in making the Celebration a memorable one .

    Conclusion:
Swami Vivekananda had a vision that India would rise from its slumber and lead humanity. Absence of education and proper opportunities makes such children ignorant of their human dignity and the rich heritage and glorious past of their country. They need to be made aware of the human dignity, their rich past and proud to be Indians.

Feel, my children, feel; feel for the poor, the ignorant, the downtrodden; feel till the heart stops and the brain reels and you think you will go mad – then pour the soul out at the feet of the Lord, and then will come power, help, and indomitable energy.
