We convey our loving namaskars and warm greetings to you, all the
members of your family and friends. Hope you are all keeping well
by the grace of the Almighty. We pray to Him for the welfare of
you all. |
|
|
|
103 years have passed since the Sevashrama had its humble
beginning in 1907. The Sevashrama has been rendering selfless
service to the poor and needy patients of this region. We are
happy to place before you the Annual Short Report 2009-10 with
the progress that the Sevashrama has made during the financial
year. A detailed report will follow shortly once the Statements
of Accounts are finalised. We have been able to take up all the
activities for the service of the poor and the needy because of
the dedicated and generous support that you have provided to the
efforts of the Sevashrama. We are indebted to you all for helping
us to upgrade the existing services. Needless to say - Our thanks
to all the generous donors, well wishers, doctors, friends,
devotees, volunteers and staff as we could not have achieved all
this without your support. This year we have a few additions as
in the last year. There is a raise in the number of patients who
have been treated at the hospital as against last year. Herewith
we are also place before you the various projects that we have
planned for the year ahead. We are sure that with your generous
and noble support we will be able to provide service to the poor
as envisioned by Swami Vivekananda - "Serve God in Man". |

Further to the support that you are providing to the
Sevashrama, we request you to please recommend this 103 year
old institution to a few of your kind hearted acquaintances
who may be willing to help by providing us financial
assistance for the various activities of the Sevashrama and
we earnestly hope that you will continue to help us with
your kind support in the future. |

We have been sending you reports of
activities undertaken at the Sevashrama twice a year. Hope
you are receiving the same. We take this opportunity to

family & friends to visit Sri Vrindaban Dham at your
convenience. Your visit will surely be an inspiration to all
of us here. You can directly witness the various activities
that are undertaken at the Sevashrama by your noble support.

| We are
indebted to all the above donors for their wholehearted
support for providing the above listed equipment to the
Sevashrama. Also we acknowledge the support of Sitaram
Bhartiya Hospital, Delhi for providing training to one
female nurse for operating the Mammography Machine. We
extend our gratitude to Dr. (Col.) C S Pant, VSM
Radiologist of Col. Pant’s Imaging Centre – Green Park,
New Delhi for his promise to visit the Sevashrama once
or twice a month for helping the poor and the needy
patients. In this regard Dr. Bharat of Diwan Chand
Satya Pal Aggarwal X-Ray Clinic has also pledged his
support. |

The handing over ceremony of the
Hemodialysis machine donated by Gas Authority of
India Limited, Agra was held on 15th March 2010. One
more dialysis machine along with a washer to sterilize the
Dialiser is expected to be added. We are indebted to
Ramakrishna Paramahamsa Hospital, Vadodara for providing
training to three doctors and three nursing staff to operate
the Dialysis machine. |

Rastriya Swastha Bima Yojana (BPL/Smart
Card): The Central Govt. scheme of medical
insurance to the Below Poverty Line people of the land
through BPL/Smart Card made available at the Sevashrama
Hospital by empanelling our facility in the scheme. So far
we have treated 36 cases under the RSBY during 2009 –
10. Such Cardholders are provided complete free treatment
and also conveyance charges along with medicines after
discharge. |

|
ICTC Programme for AIDS Prevention &
Control: The Government sponsored programme for
prevention & control of AIDS, was initiated at the Hospital
this year. Services for Counseling are run from here and
40 patients were counseled during the year. |
|
|
Eye Camps: Eye screening
camps are held in different villages and on an average 15
to 25 patients are brought for surgery to the Hospital
in the vehicle provided by Blind Foundation of India,
USA. Post surgery they are sent back to their
homes/villages in our vehicle with all the medicines. These
camps are being sponsored by Sri Baijnath Garodia
Charitable Trust, Guwahati, Assam. |

Computerisation of Indoor
Management System: With the kind help and
generous support of Sri Jaggannathan Srinivasan,
Bangalore of Ma Sarada Research Lab and his
team, we have started the computerization of the Indoor
Patients Management System. Computerisation of the
Registration at OPD, report generation at the various
investigation departments are also in the pipeline. |

Internship: The hospital
being affiliated to the Medical Council of India –
New Delhi, is open for internship for medical students from
all over India. Internship is provided for Allopathic,
Ayurvedic and Physiotherapy departments. |

| The general
ward patients were provided bed, diet, almost all medicines,
doctors' & sisters' services all free of charges. The
private ward patients are also offered the same services
except the medicines and nominal bed charge. |
|
Operation Theatre : The six
operating room OT Complex functions five days a week. Major
operations include General Surgeries, Laparoscopic
Surgeries, Urological Surgeries, Paediatric Surgeries,
Gynaec & Obstreitics Surgeries, Orthopaedic Surgeries,
Plastic Surgeries, ENT & Eye Surgeries, etc.
Like
last year the Annual Urology Camp headed by Dr. (Prof.)
Harshad Punjani of Mumbai, Dr. Balchandra Kashyap
of Pune and their team, were conducted in
November. This camp is being sponsored by Manav Seva
Sansthan, Mumbai. |

Children Ward : Thanks to a
very generous donor from Mumbai who provides
the financial support to the 18 bed children ward
where all the services are given free of cost to the
patients. This year the total number of patients treated at
the Indoor facility was – 911. At the OPD facility
the total number of patients treated was – 24,836. All
the patients were provided free medicines. |
|
|
Out Patient Department :
On an average more than 1000 patients visit
the OPD daily (In summer some days the number crosses
1200). Braving long lines at different points in the
Sevashrama Hospital, patients queue up for their turn to
avail the quality and free services. |
|
|
Alternative Medicines and Clinics :
In these changing times the Sevashrama offers Ayurveda,
Homeo, Acupuncture, Acupressure, Yoga, Pranic Healing &
Naturopathy way of alternative treatments on a regular
basis. Ayurveda and Homeopath are popular among elderly
patients. |
|
|
Emergency Department :
After OPD clinics are closed the Sevashrama offers Emergency
consultation for all patients till the OPD opens next
morning. Two MBBS Doctors and one Consultant Gynaecologist
are at the service round the clock. |
|
|
Medical - Rural Mobile Medical Service |
|
|
Pallimangal : The
Rural Mobile Medical Team comprising 12 doctors
(including Homeopathic and Ayurvedic), 2 nurses, one
attendant and 6 volunteers provided medical services in the
rural areas of Mathura District four days a week covering
five villages. Monthly Oral & Eye check-up camps are
also conducted. All the patients were given 6 days medicines
at a time free of cost. The Mobile medical Van is provided
by Indian Overseas Bank, Chennai. |

Medical Store : We had
purchased at wholesale rate Rs. 1, 05, 34,013/- worth
medicines for free distribution to the poor patients as
against Rs. 95, 04,141/- last year. Only good quality
genuine medicines from reputed companies are bought in this
department. |
|
|
Maa Sarada Dawakhana :
As a
part of our service to the poor and the needy to alleviate
their suffering, we have provided a Dawakhana from where
medicines that are not available at the free OPD dispensary
are sold. Here medicines are sold at
fare price.
The margin of benefit in this
shop is 5% to 15% of the purchasing rate. |

|
Orphan Patients :
Vrindaban being Pilgrimage Centre, many people, especially
in their old age, come here to live for the rest of their
lives. Sometimes they suffer a pitiable end, dropping sick
at Dharamasalas, Ashramas or even at road sides. Invariably
they are brought to the Sevashrama and we try to provide
them whatever we can to alleviate their suffering. We
arrange for their last rites as well. The period under
consideration witnessed
11 orphan mortalities.
Those who recover leave the Sevashrama with lots of
gratitude. |
|

|
Blood Bank :
Blood donation camps were organized by young local
business community (Aggarwal)
members as in the previous year. Voluntary donors among our
devotees, GLA Engineering College
as well as some of our staff help
our patients in emergency. Also some local youth come
forward to donate occasionally. A total of 655
transfusions took place at
the hospital this year. |

School of Nursing |
|

Beneficiaries - 80 students :
The new (28th) batch of
20 underprivileged & meritorious students
were admitted to the free
3 1/2 years’ General Nursing &
Midwifery (GNM)
course recognised by the
U.P. Nursing Faculty
and the All India
Nursing Council. |

The Nursing School
teachers and Nursing students visited remote villages (door
to door including schools), and imparted Adult Education,
Awareness and Counselling programmes in baby care, food &
nutrition, hygiene, sanitation, post immunizations and
HIV/AIDS. |
|

Lamp Lighting Ceremony :
A glittering Lamp Lighting ceremony was held at the
Auditorium in the Nursing School on December 2nd 2009, the
fresh batch of 20 Nursing students formally took the oaths
to dedicate their lives to the ailing humanity.

distributing food materials such as rice, atta, pulses,
sugar, salt, cooking oil, soap etc. to
1300 poor widows every month.
Winter Blankets, Clothes, oil, soaps, slippers and socks
were distributed to 1000
poor widows
on the birth
anniversary of Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi. |

Assistance
to the underprivileged was rendered in the form of
educational aid, school dress and books, socks to the poor
in winter, spectacles to
old persons, house rent for
poor widows, aid for referral treatment, monetary help for
cremation, marriages,
food grains, sari & dhoti, slippers, medicines, blankets,
rickshaw fare to the poor patients & widows etc., of value
Rs. 22, 23,565/-
were provided to 45,153
beneficiaries. |

of Vrindaban,
which was distributed on the occasion of
Holy Mother’s Birthday,
another 1500 blankets
were distributed to the poor of different remote villages of
Brijdham including the poor on the streets of Vrindaban
during the winter with the kind donation of
Kirpalani Foundation, Sri
Baidyanath Ayurvedic Bhawan
and other generous donors. Bundles of Clothing (old and new)
were distributed to many other poor people of remote
villages all through the year.

Swami Vivekananda Bal Vikas and
Sanskritik Kendra : Beneficiaries – 460 students:
The Kendra situated at
Rajpura, Dangoli
(Dangoli started during last year, located at a distance of
about 15 Kms from the Sevashrama) and the Old Ashrama
premises in Panighat,
continued to offer free coaching to about 460 boys & girls
from the village & slum areas. They have been provided
fruits & biscuits every day. Text books, note books,
clothing, winter caps, bags, sandals and socks etc. were
also given to them from time to time during the year. |
|
|
|
Evening OPD at Panighat (Old
Ashrama) :
The premises of the Old Ashrama are utilised for operating
an evening OPD for the benefit of the poor in and around
Panighat. Ayurvedic, Homeopathy and Physiotherapy
departments are run from here. During this year
14,037 patients
were treated at the evening OPD.
All the patients are provided
free medicines for 6 days. |

Other Activities |
|
Goshala:
6 cows were purchased for the Goshala from the donation of
devotees in order to meet the requirement of milk for the
Sevashrama. |
|
|
|
Agriculture:
As we do every year, this year also the vacant land within
the Sevashrama & Old Ashrama was cultivated to produce
fodder for cows and wheat. |
|
|
|
Guest House:
The Sevashrama guest house provided accommodation to
thousands of devotees, well-wishers, visiting doctors and
patrons who visited Vrindaban and enjoyed its spiritual
ambience from all over the country and abroad. |
|
|
|
Spiritual & Cultural |
|
|
|
Kala Babu Kunj:
Holy Mother’s Room and a small portion of adjoining veranda
(Area - 300 Sq. Yds, Cost – Rs. 35 Lakhs),
was taken into our possession in January 2009. Later during
the year another 1000 Sq. Yd.
was added in the complex at the cost of Rs. 65 lakhs.
We have already cleared the
area and renovation work
has already begun for a memorial, Museum and place for
Sadhus and devotees who wish to stay there and spend their
time in spiritual contemplation. |

|
Temple:
Besides daily worship, bhajans and weekly discourses on
spiritual topics, celebration of holy birthdays of direct
disciples and great spiritual teachers, Janmasthami, Kali
Puja, Durga Puja, Shiv Ratri, etc. were celebrated in the
temple with due solemnity and devotional fervour. Many
devotees & poor people of this area joyfully participated in
these celebrations; blankets, clothes etc. were distributed
to widow mothers, poor, Sadhus & Vaishnavas during major
celebrations. |

Visit by Srimat Swami
Gitanandaji Maharaj:
We were blessed with the visit of Revered Srimat Swami
Gitanandaji Maharaj – Vice-President, Ramakrishna Math &
Ramakrishna Mission during October – November 2009. About
25 devotees
were blessed with
initiation
during his 15 days stay in Vrindaban. We were also blessed
by the visit of His
Holiness Srimat Swami Gurusharananandaji Maharaj
of Udasi Karshni Ashrama, Gokul – Ramanreti during July
2009. He inaugurated the Digital X-Ray Machine and the
Laundry Machine at the Sevashrama Hospital.

Book Sales:
Many people purchased religious & spiritual literature from
our Main Book Sales' Counter near the temple. On major
celebration days an exhibition cum sales counter was opened
for the benefit of visitors.
|
|
|
|
Library:
The Math library houses thousands of books on
scriptures, religion,
spirituality and other general subjects.
The library also has a section for children. Currently the
Library is also being computerised. |
|
|
|
Cultural Competitions:
As in the previous years, elocution, recitation and other
cultural competitions were organized among school and
college going students and the winners were awarded prizes. |
|
|
|
Yugal Parikrama:
On the Yugal (Vrindaban & Mathura) Parikrama day lakhs of
devotees do the parikrama by walking bare foot both
Vrindaban and Mathura with religious fervour and devotion.
As our Old Ashrama at Panighat falls on the Parikrama Marg,
we provided sweets and water to more than 40,000
pilgrims. A First-Aid Medical
camp and Book Sales Counter was set up at the site. |

Independence Day & Republic Day
Celebrations:
The 62nd Independence Day and the 60th Republic Day were
celebrated with national spirit and fervour along with the
hoisting and salutation of the National Tricolour, chanting
of National Anthem & distribution of Prasad to all the
patients, guests, staff and devotees. |
|
|
|
Sri Sri Sarada Devi Birthday:
The 157th Birth
Anniversary
of Sri Sri Sarada Devi, was held on
8th December 2009
at the Sevashrama. The celebration started during the
auspicious early hours at 5.30 am with Mangalarati. Special
puja was performed at 8 am followed by Havan, Chandi recital
and devotional songs. Many sadhus, devotees and admirers
participated in the above events with great joy and
devotion. ‘Rogi Narayan
Puja’
was performed with due devotion at 10.30am at the Indoor
Department of the Hospital worshipping each and every
patient with Sandal paste, garland, Arati and offerings of
fruits and sweets by sadhus, devotees and student & staff
nurses. At 12.00 noon, as a part of Daridra Narayan Seva, in
all about 3000 poor
widow mothers,
poor men &
children, devotees and others were sumptuously fed with noon
prasad. Winter Blankets,
dhoti, bathing soap, washing soap, oil, socks and slippers
were distributed to 1000 poor widow mothers.

Swami Vivekananda Birthday:
The 149th Birth
Anniversary of Srimat Swami
Vivekananda
was celebrated with devotion and festivities in the
Sevashrama on 6th January, 2010 as follows. The celebration
started at 5.30 am in the temple with Mangalarati followed
by chanting of Vedic mantras and Dhyanam. This was followed
by special puja, recital of Bhagavad Gita, Reading on the
life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda, Bhajan Kirtans and
Rogi Narayan puja in the hospital.

devotees were provided with noon prasad. |

Sri Ramakrishna Dev Birthday:
The
175th Birth Anniversary
of Sri Ramakrishna Dev, was celebrated with various
programmes from 16th to 19th February, 2010. Special Puja,
Havan, recital of Chandi, poor feeding, etc. was held on
that day. Sadhus and Vaishnavas were also fed on this
occasion. All of them were provided with cloth and Dakshina.
Srimad Bhagavad Path was held on two days at the temple
prayer hall. Japa Yagna, Raslila, Bhajans & Kitrtan was held
for about 150 devotees who attended the Spiritual Retreat.
Swami Chinmayanandaji Maharaj & Swami Sujayanandaji Maharaj
graced the occasion. A student meeting was held on the
concluding day. Prizes were distributed to all the winners
who participated in various competitions held throughout the
year the birthday celebration of Sri Ramakrishna Dev, as
well as in connection with the National Youth Day
celebrations on 12th January. |

Our Humble Appeal |

We have the following ongoing projects apart from the
special projects for the benefit and welfare of the poor and
the needy patients. Most humbly, we appeal to your gracious
self for your kind, sympathetic and generous support. |
